our beliefs

Set Free Prayer Ministry is a nondenominational ministry with a goal of helping people from all Christian churches learn how to help people to get saved and set free. Dr. Gardner counsels people from all denominations, and even unbelievers, to help them be set free from emotional bondage. When he helps those who are unbelievers find freedom through prayer, it often leads to an opportunity to demonstrate to them the power of prayer and the goodness of God to release them from emotional bondage, which often leads clients to give their lives to Jesus. Dr. Gardner does not push his theological positions on anyone and welcomes all believers who believe in prayer and in Jesus as the Son of God to be saved and to be set free.

What We Believe

THE WAY TO SALVATION: We believe that the only way to salvation is by receiving Jesus by faith, apart from any works, and that all who receive Him are forgiven all their sins, made a child of God, given the indwelling Holy Spirit, and will spend eternity in heaven with the Lord.

THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVERWe believe that once an individual receives Jesus as their Savior, they are completely forgiven of all sins in the past, the present, and the future and the Holy Spirit indwells them and holds them securely so that they will never be lost. True believers will sin and may wander from Him but they will never deny Him completely or lose their relationship with the Lord.

THE SINFULNESS OF MAN: We believe that all men are by nature sinful and rebellious to God’s standards as revealed in the Bible and that this sin separates them from God, who is sinless, but Holy Spirit convicts men of their sin and seeks to bring them to repentance and faith in Jesus.

THE ETERNAL NATURE OF MAN: We believe that heaven and hell are real places and after life on earth, every person will spend eternity in one of them. The determining factor in going to heaven is whether the individual accepts Jesus personally as their Savior and for the forgiveness of their sins, and those who reject Jesus will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and then will suffer eternally in hell.

THE LOVE OF GOD: We believe that God personally loves each individual so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for their sins so that all who believe on Him may be saved. He is not willing that any should perish and He desires all men to come to repentance and salvation.

THE WAY TO SPIRITUAL MATURITY: We believe that Christian growth and maturity comes as a believer allows his mind to be renewed through the truth found in the Word of God, through giving his anger, grief, sadness and disappointments to the Lord, through allowing the Spirit to replace his lies with truth, through obedience to the Lord, and through prayer and fellowship with other believers.

THE BIBLE: We believe the Bible is God’s inerrant Word, as contained in the original manuscripts and that we have an accurate copy of it today, that has been divinely preserved. It reveals God’s hand in the affairs of men and His perfect will for us today. It is the final authority in all matters.

THE DEITY OF JESUS: We believe that Jesus was the prophesied Messiah, He was born of a virgin, He lived a perfect and sinless life, He performed many miracles, and then He died for the sins of mankind. He was raised to life on the third day after His crucifixion to prove His deity and to secure our forgiveness.

THE NATURE OF GOD: We believe there is one incomprehensible God, who created all things, and who exists eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is also holy, all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present, loving and merciful, and has chosen to give men the freedom to choose Him or reject Him.

THE CHURCH: We believe that the church consists of all true believers and that each local church is a miniature of the Universal Church, which is the bride of Christ and is God’s chosen vessel for carrying forth His work in the world. The ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper were given for the church to observe as testimony of an individual’s salvation and as a reminder of the atoning work of Christ.  The church is God's primary agent for changing the world.

THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE: We believe that all human life is created by God and is sacred from the point of conception until death, and that only God has the right to decide when a life should be ended.

THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE: We believe that God created males and females and instituted marriage between one man and one woman. This union is the ideal, God-ordained foundation for a family and society and the union between same-sex individuals is a violation of God’s design. Sexual relations between unmarried individuals or between same-sex individuals is sinful but can be forgiven.

the body of Christ

The church is "The Body of Christ" because Jesus left behind His followers when he was resurrected and returned to heaven. He left His "Body" to be His hands, feet, and voice to the world to show His love to others, and to carry the "good news" of salvation to the ends of the world.

the pillar and support of truth

Jesus spoke of the church and said that "the gates of hell will not prevail against it." After the resurrection of Jesus, the church was born on the day of Pentecost and exploded into existence. God created the church to be His means of spreading the good news of His love and salvation throughout the world.

god's representatives

All true believers are part of the universal church of Jesus and are His representatives. The church is called the "Body of Christ." It is God's way of showing His love and offering His forgiveness because "He is not willing that any should perish but that all would come to salvation."
